With the rapid technological development and the shortened lifespan of devices in recent years,, electronic and electrical waste has become a more significant percentage of the overall global waste.

To respond to the market's needs and reduce the adverse effects on the environment and human health caused by the hazardous substances contained in electronic and electrical waste, the Electrical and Electronic Waste Sector of Ekocentar 97 offers services for the collection, transportation, and treatment of electronic and electrical devices for both legal entities and individuals.

Legal entities

Under the Law on Management of Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Electrical and Waste Electronic Equipment in the Republic of North Macedonia, companies are legally obligated to deliver their electrical and electronic equipment waste to authorised companies for further treatment in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

Ekocentar 97 has specialised vehicles to collect such waste from companies and issues appropriate documentation as evidence for further treatment of the waste equipment.

Individuals

Considering that individual consumers or households constitute the largest percentage of electrical and electronic equipment users, regular initiatives for collection of e-waste from individuals are organised within this sector in various municipalities across the country.

All individuals can dispose of non-functional electrical and electronic equipment waste during the initiatives at the designated e-waste points. Meanwhile, e-waste can be disposed of at no cost at designated collection points set up by the collective operators.
